Individual Therapy

About This Service

Individual therapy at Kainos is a collaborative, unhurried process. We work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, relationship patterns, and questions of faith and identity. An individual's therapy session starts with a client bringing in a current-life problem. We then process feelings about the problem through emotion focused work, make sense of the problem by using the resulting emotions to connect the problem with past experiences, look at the resulting emotions in the context of the therapeutic relationship to provide a corrective emotional experience, and then apply what we have learned toward a solution for the original problem. **<<-- I'm not sure if any of this is necessary** **Modalities we use include:** **AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy)** — A psychodynamic, attachment-based process that moves the client to feel feelings deeply and safely process them in the therapeutic relationship. This approach works for many issues. **EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)** — Frees a client from reliving a traumatic event when it comes to mind and allows clients to associate the memory with more positive thoughts and beliefs. Dual attention stimulation of the brain is created by a client's eye movement while recalling traumatic events. This approach works for clients recovering from trauma. **Reintegrative Therapy™** — With roots in psychodynamic and attachment theory, helps a client identify and reintegrate parts of their identity that were split-off due to childhood trauma. This approach works for adult survivors of trauma and those fighting addictions. Therapy with us usually consists of sessions once or twice a week. A single session is fifty (50) minutes. A double session is one hundred (100) minutes. Your therapist will make a recommendation based on your particular situation and needs.
